Screening
DESCRIPTION

Main toxicity sources were identified from an ecotoxicity screening of the discharges of industrial plants. A bulk evaluation was carried by sampling the main tributaries of the WWTP (S. João da Talha and Beirolas) and by using two different bioassays. The results allowed ranking the main pollution sources. From these data and from basin streams sampling network will be designed.

OBJECTIVES

  • Effluent screening to identify which of the potentially numerous discharges to a receiving water are of most concern. 
  • Chemical and ecotoxicological characterisation of effluent to define the hazard presented by discharges of concern.
  • Design of main sampling program.
