DESCRIPTION

Toxicity determination in Trancão river basin was carried out with a battery of toxicity laboratorial tests, in the industries and WWTP efluents that passed the screening. Toxicity was also characterized in the receiving water. The experimental work allowed the identification and development of Best Available Techniques in ecotoxicity.

OBJECTIVES

  • Evaluation of acute and chronic endpoints, including survival/mortality, immobilisation and bioluminescence
  • Assessment of the reproducibility/repeatability and sensitivity of the proposed microbiotests
  • Cost-benefit assessment in comparison to the standard test protocols
  • Intercalibration exercise, between partners, for one of two bioassays
